Tell us about your background and who you are.
My name is L. L. Colling, and I’m from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I’ve been internationally published about a dozen times for various publications, some of which include Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Women’s World Weekly Magazine. My background is in Marketing and Advertising, and of course, literature.
What themes does your book explore, and is there a particular feeling or experience that you hope to evoke in the reader?
The theme of Obsessed with Her is fear at its deepest. What would you do if your child was missing? How far would you go to find out what happened to her? I hope that readers will ask themselves these questions to see that the lines between good and evil are blurred and what makes us law-abiding citizens different from criminals.
I would say we don’t know what we would do until we were in that situation. The experience I hope to invoke for the reader is that they question everything they thought they knew about the main character and themselves.
What prompted you to be an author, and did you have a specific inspiration in mind? Were you influenced by a particular person, artist, or genre?
I’ve always been an author at heart. I started writing almost 30 years ago and never looked back. I was influenced by authors such as Mary Higgins-Clark and always enjoyed her psychological writing style.
If you could compare your book to any other existing works, which ones would it be, and why?
The book that inspired Obsessed with Her is called You by Caroline Kepnes. An amazing, twisted piece of art that is a must-read.
Tell us about your latest work and what inspired you.
My latest work is Becoming James Cass, and it’s the Prequel to Obsessed with Her. I was inspired to write this book after the first one was released because that’s how the story had to be told. James Cass is not who you think he is, and there were a lot of unanswered questions that I cleared up in the next book.
