When possible, try to take the lead in the partnership,

That lid on paranoia; “once bitten, twice shy”, worry about this in the slightest,
Oh just clearing the path and blowing clouds out of the skies,

Can it be accepted that this person is not going to start behaving differently?

There won’t be a shortage of folks willing to lend an ear and ease the mind.
