Melissa is not just an author, she is also a single mom, actor/model, and a graduate with a Criminology/Business degree.
She has done a wide range of things, though nothing has kept this woman down, not an illness or the severe car accident she had in 2008. Melissa is originally from Minnesota, where she grew up and learned about life the hard way.
Tell us about your background. Who you are, where you are from?
I am an author, a single mom, a graduate with a criminology/business as well as a Paralegal degree, though I don’t stop there, I also am an actor/model. In my 31 years on this planet, I have done a wide range of things; nothing has kept me down, not illnesses or the severe accident I had in 2008. I am from Minnesota and I learned about life the hard way, literally.
When you read this book you will see that I have a way of bringing words to life and know that this is a passion for me. Therefore, I will continually pursue writing because I love it.
At the time the book was written, I was a student at Rasmussen College where I pursued a degree as a paralegal. This was my latest goal, inspired by the desire to help lawyers seek justice for abused and down-trodden children. I will continue to keep the dream alive. I have plans to use the gifts that I have been blessed with to inspire others as a role model. I am pursuing other goals so be on the lookout and Stay Tuned for more with The Tree House Series! “THANKS in advance and God Bless you all who purchase my book.
Were you influenced by a certain person, artist, or genre?
After my car accident I saw life in a different light I saw colors instead of black and white. I saw people for who they are not for what they have done. I knew I needed to figure out who I was; I knew God kept me on this planet for a reason. I started back into school where I took a few writing courses.
Little did I know as I walked God’s path this would be the new beginning I needed in life. I was in Criminal Justice school through AIU; I had come across some unusual support from the professor who later inspired me to write this amazing novel.
After careful research of a convicted killer, I decided to tell this story that highlights the childhood and moments that lead up to the gruesome death of his victims. I chose creatively to express how grueling and torturous one man could create such havoc onto a town in an undeserving way.
My accounts protect the town and individuals involved but tell in detail what can happen when we choose to overlook the evils lurking within others. In the first phase of this story, I direct the reader’s perspective toward fear that will grip your senses though leaving you wondering what will happen next.
Tell us about your latest work and what inspired you?
Well, Paul, I have two things that I am working on. I have been finishing writing up book two in The Tree House Series. It is coming along quite well and is expected to be released later this year. I promise you the work will amaze you. Book two has a twist that NO ONE will be expecting because my mind went into places that scared even me. I also have a film short in the works on the first book.
What is something most people do not know about you?
In 2012. I was honored to play alongside Actor Damion Chapa in his film DSK Unauthorized, where I played a speaking role as the “Court Stenographer.”
Is there a particular feeling or experience that you hope to evoke in the reader?
The Tree House is a suspense thriller, based loosely on facts from an Ohio killer. My goal for writing this was to inform people that even the average-looking person can have a dark side deep within them. Crimes like what I wrote about are actually happening every day.
I hope that my book will cause the people who read it to be aware of the actions that could signal something is wrong and get out before something drastic happens that could change your life forever. As those who read this book, I want them to place themselves in the place of the characters and feel the fear that will make the hair raise up on the back of their necks.
I wrote it so they would want more…even as they are sitting on the edge of their seats.
What is something you would like to leave your fans with?
I have come to the realization in life that even though I am not perfect, and my life is a mess there are great times, there is no reason to give up. Keep in mind that we have no control over what happens to us most of the time; it’s life. But we do have control over what we do, so don’t allow obstacles to hinder that…and BEWARE of the evil that lurks around every corner. ”
