Interview with Rhoan Flowers
As an author, I thrive to captivate my audience where they are completely swept away from their daily worries.
Therefore, whatever the topic I’ve embarked on, I try to ensure that my readers are treated to a unique experience, unlike anything they’ve ever read. I presently reside in Ottawa Ontario, Canada, however, I was born and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica up till the age of twelve, when I relocated to live with my mother.
What themes do your books explore and what do you hope the reader will take away from the experience? Is there a particular feeling or experience that you hope to evoke in the reader?
I’ve written a few genres of books thus far, my first novel which was released in 2010 titled Informer: The Wars of Men, is a biker/gangster novel about some friends who fought against the most dangerous biker gang in Montreal, which was the lynching force behind a secret cult of billionaires.
My second novel titled Yahweh is the story of God’s return to battle Satan for control over planet Earth and that book was released in 2012. In 2015 I released the second installment in the Informer trilogy subtitled, The Treachery of Friends, which continued the brutal and exciting story of corruption, rape, murders, racism, etc. The Blue Jay And The Squirrel, released in the spring of 2017 was my first children’s book, which I was pleased to create with my twin sons, who were ten years old at the time.
Later that same year I released the fifth of my books titled Mama Devow: The Devil’s Concubine, which is about an old Jamaican Obeah practitioner who decided against surrendering her powers to the family’s heir because the child was kidnapped and brought to a foreign country. As far as what I try to evoke in my readers, I believe a thrilling story is at the top of that list, followed by an occasional food for thought because I also try to teach others with my writing.
What prompted you to be a writer and did you have a specific inspiration in mind? Were you influenced by a certain person, artist, or genre?
I guess it all started with the little comics I used to draw in middle school, before being encouraged to become an author by a high school teacher. I believe I always wanted to become an artist, but I didn’t initially know what sort, however after that teacher gave me that push it was clear sailing since then.
It appears you are a very busy author, so when can your readers expect some new material?
I am presently looking forward to the release of the final installment in the Informer trilogy title, Informer/Bloodshed Never Ends, and the novel is slated for release by the end of 2018.
Where can readers obtain a copy of your book for them to enjoy? How can they contact you with any thoughts or questions? And do you have a means by which they can “sign up” to be notified when you make more music?
