  1. Andrew J. Sacks says

    A great new tradition started!

  2. Angelica Pastorelli says

    Thank you, dear Andrew,
With a little help from my friends, this might well become a great new tradition.
I hope your students may find this interesting too. After all, money talks…

  3. Patricia Gitt says

Congratulations on your First Annual Short Story Writing Contest. Your continuing efforts to showcase and support authors is greatly appreciated.

  4. Ishmael Brathwaite says

So just to recap; totally free, a chance to win $1000, I can enter as many of my stories as I like.

There is an old Barbadian (Bajan) saying, “Ya could could or ya don’t could, but ya gotta could”.

Thanks Angie, this is a great idea / opportunity.

  5. Angelica Pastorelli says

Thank you Pat – great to hear from you!
Feedback from friends like you make it all worthwhile.

  6. Angelica Pastorelli says

    Dear Ishmael,
I couldn’t have made a better (nor shorter) recap myself – Cheers.
    BTW: Love the Bajan saying!

  7. Gianluca De Sanctis says

Grazie – Thank you, Angie for this dazzlingly new enticement. I stand in awe for all the new enrichments you and your staff implement on your diary, seemingly effortlessly.

Now we have no choice but to start submitting our best efforts in storytelling.

  8. Daphne Shapiro says

You are right, Gianluca, now we don’t have any excuse left to put it off any longer 🙂

  9. Jack Eason says

Then you had better get busy Daphne, I’ve already contributed two – one story for small children, the other a humorous dog story. 🙂

  10. Pat Bertram says

Can the stories have been previously published, or do they have to exclusive to Angie’s Diary?

  11. Angelica Pastorelli says

    Good point, Pat!
We realized we didn’t make that sufficiently clear – as a result we have expanded our rules above to address your question.

  12. Crystal Schall says

Very interesting. I hope I can get to the 250 Florin mark so I can enter. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. Like I always say, money is always a great gift/prize. It’s always the right color and size, and no long waits for returns 😀

  13. Daphne Shapiro says

Hi, Crystal, I agree, there’s nothing like a money prize, especially if you win 🙂
I understand that you can enter NOW, and “work” your way up to the 250 mark during the coming four months, up to the deadline of December first.
    Cheers, DS

  14. Biola Olatunde says

I am going to start posting my short stories from now on Angie without prejudice to a need to wake up to my other regular posting. I am in between writings now so my brain should be clear now.

  15. Paula Boer says

Do story entries count as posts and therefore earn florins?

  16. Gianluca De Sanctis says

Yes, story entries = posts, and earn 5 florins each.
But there are even faster ways to earn florins:
    It’s all there, Cheers.

  17. Nancy Duci Denofio says

How can anyone pass this up, no fee, and as I stated, only pluses. To be involved with Angie’s Diary is a blessing – one doesn’t know this until they have experienced her honesty, talent, and dedication to you the writer. . .So why not enter the short story contest, and read about all the free perks. Do it today.

Angie, creativity flows through your blood – as water from a spring. XO

  18. Bart says

We are hesitant about extending the deadline, as (potential) participants might wait even longer to post their entry… 🙂

  19. Carla Rosselini says

I’m infinitely grateful for all your initiatives to further authors of our community!
    Professional AND aspiring, like myself.
    Amore, Angie

  20. Paul Collins says

I am trying to figure out how to apply.

  21. Angelica Pastorelli says

    Dear Paul,

You do not need to apply in order to participate in the contest.
Just post your story in the category of “Short Story Contest 2013′ 😀

  22. Kristin Fouquet says

Thanks for clarifying with #5. I hope to enter a new story before the deadline.

  23. Angelica Pastorelli says

    Dear Friends & Colleagues,

In response to questions on several social networks about this and future contests:

This is the first year we hold this competition, and the magazine puts up the prize money of $1000.

In 2014 we plan to do a ‘prize pool’ that will determine the height of the money prize – every (paid) entry will increase the final prize – shown on the sidebar of the homepage. We still have to decide on an acceptable entry fee – suggestions are welcome.

    All my best,

  24. ElenaD says

Hi, Angie! Thank you for having a Short Story Contest. I am planning on entering a story forthwith.

  25. ElenaD says
