Marketing Tips for Writers

What makes a bad marketer? Being anti-social! To be successful, we must have relentless persistence in our belief of ourselves in order to convince others to spend their hard-earned cash.

A writer’s real skill is to turn a bad day of garbage into a lifetime of brilliance. This takes time. Percolating, editing, researching, networking, and marketing is what we do in our spare time when not writing.

Confucius says, “Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.” I agree. Writing is a job but it is no chore.

Franz Kafka says, “A non-writing writer is a monster courting insanity.”

Joanna Penn is one of these gals that does it all she is eager to help hone beginning writers into selling writers. Joanna is a podcaster, international speaker, and award-winning creative entrepreneur. We often bleed when it comes to marketing. She advises us, “I’ve made so many mistakes, I want to try and save you time, money and heartache along the way, and so I share articles, video, and audio about writing and creativity, publishing options, book marketing, and being a creative entrepreneur…”

Guest Posts

If you’ve been writing guest posts for a while but haven’t seen a boost in your own website traffic, you may want to re-evaluate whether you are pleasing others or not. Here’s the first question you should ask yourself, are you writing for yourself or others? Never assume you are the apple in everyone’s eye. Always write to benefit others. Are you informative? Are you entertaining? Are you editing as well as you should? Are you sharing with webs that will benefit from sharing your own work?

It may take as many as three or more attempts to impress your way into posting on a similar web. Always be professional. Be courteous. Be competent. Maybe, your struggling with self-belief? Maybe, you want to turn a hobby into a paying gig but you are unsure how to do it? Maybe you are having a hard time coming up with great blog post ideas? Check out OptinMonster.com who gives us hints for various blog posts that are popular.

Share your Work

I write on many topics and have found Angie’s Diary a great place for writers to share their fiction and non-fiction articles, as well as poetry. It is an online magazine for writers, authors, readers, and poets. Angie does suggest when writing, you use the first-person tone as it will help the audience to think that you are writing from your personal experience. Also, it will create and drive excitement.

I also write for Global Healing Exchange, who is always looking for articles on holistic health support for families. Authorsden.com is another online magazine for writers. They do charge a small fee but well worth it as you get many comments from other authors who can help you hone your craft.

Always Entertain

Infobeat.com has more common sites for guest posting. Finding the right fit for your style of writing is necessary when it comes to blog sharing. With all that is going wrong in the world, it is a good idea to add personal humor. Also, entertain and inform, “writing writes itself and editing takes discipline. We can always edit a page poorly written, but we can’t edit a blank page. Editing is like committing your own hands to – choice above chance.”

The famed artist Vincent Van Gogh says, “I dream my painting and then I paint my dream.”
Like him, we need to dream of our writing and then write our dream.

Martin Luther King says, “Faith is taking the first step even when there is no staircase.”

Keep the Faith and Step Lightly but Loudly

A call to action (CTA) is a word, phrase, or sentence that prompts the reader to take a specific action. CTAs are usually placed in the form of a button in a prominent spot on your webpage.
You can always research how to be successful. But, the best way is by listening to other writers. Check out my suggested links below:

I always use professional content writing, term papers and dissertations to help me edit and improve my texts because I want them to be as good as this text.
