“Love Me” is a compassionate picture book that is unique in its audience and its message. It is written for young children, but has a deeper significance for the parent who is reading the book to their child. It is short, the content simple, but the communication heartfelt.
The lyrical story is told through the voice of the child. It conveys what every child wants, needs and deserves….to be loved and cherished for who they are. To be held both physically and emotionally by their mother, father or primary caretaker. I believe this story can touch a child, but more importantly, help and encourage a parent who is caught up in their own personal drama and has not been thoughtfully available for their offspring.
The strain of everyday living can leave a parent exhausted and children inadvertently become the target of parental stress. Children are often scolded for just being kids. I would hope this story begins to raise a level of consciousness, so that a parent can look inside, examine their behavior and see their child in a new light. Perhaps this story can engender an empathy and compassion which every parent strives for and every child merits.
The book was just selected by Storycub and is being made into a video/ebook . It just received this endorsement:” The sweet, simple words and pictures of Love Me, provide a much needed message to parents and small children about unconditional love. Loving children for who they are, not for what they do… is a powerful reminder for the stressed and busy parent. The direct and concrete examples to children about what they deserve is precious, unforgettable information to plant early in little minds and hearts. A small book with a big, lasting imprint.” Karyl McBride, Ph.D., author of Will I Ever Be Good Enough? Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers.
