Watching From Above
Through twisted darkness, bitter night;
there is a light that lights my flight.
Through darkened roads, through city streets,
through strangers’ shadows that I meet.
My feet are guided by this eye.
Its gaze laid fixed up in the sky.
As smoke drifts slowly to meet its end;
I find this light to be my friend.
It watches me, it brings me home;
it gives me comfort
It sits there silently spelling my fate;
the future, the friend for whom it waits.
