The Rose and the Honeysuckle

The Rose and the Honeysuckle
One blooms as the other is sipped,

the fragrance as sweet as the nectar.

I’ll put it on my tongue, like a jewel.
I’ll open my many petals.

You give and give from your high vine,
while I push up from moist earth.

My face is upturned from my brambles,
your arms are stretched above me like a star.
