The Loving Angel’s Cry
Beneath the dark, convicting sky
From the bars that imprison me
I heard a loving angel cry
and from my bonds I was free
To myself, I thought it a dream
just a trick or wicked lie
but so mournful was the scream
its gravity I could not deny
To my knees; my body gone lame
I found no strength for me to rise
then, before me, the Savior came
and he gazed down into my eyes
He said, “My son I died for thee
crucified upon the cross
in doing so I’ve set you free
from your bonds of mortal loss
Excellent – and surprising. I enjoyed it.
