The Height of Absurdity
Behold, at the furthest edge of reality
Where primordial chaos battles with ancient night
At the point where the mind’s eye can no longer see
There stands God, illuminating with His heart’s light
When all of our science and all of language fail
When fair Reason reaches her bright limits and dies
On the uncharted seas of absurd faith set sail
To the Elysian lands where the human heart cries
Only there can God’s heartbeat in tandem with man’s
In step and in sense on those “White shores, and beyond…
…a far green country under a swift sunrise.” Plans…
…set in motion at birth by the Creator’s hand.
“I believe because it’s impossible” a scream!
Into the darkness keeping hope alive with will
For the truth of Reality is but a dream
Be quiet and you will feel God’s heart when you’re still
Like a compass, it’ll guide you there on a swift sail
The loud ones will ridicule you or doubt your mind
But in the quiet of the soul, you’ll see the trail
Make one step towards the edge and Him you will find
That is the prism through which I see this bizarre world
I share it with you having banished bestial fear
That love and madness go hand in hand warriors bold
For the world has grown old again, and the end’s near
“So be very careful to love the Lord your God.”
Stand at the faith’s precipice and let out a shout
They will think you naïve or at best raving mad
Ignore them, their voices are the shadows of doubt
Beyond the furthest edge of our reality
Where primeval time makes love to primal dark
At that point where Man’s mind cannot begin to see
There stands Hope with the heart of a singing skylark.
Where all of our knowledge and all our art fails and dies
Beyond the seas of the stars, the sublime absurd…
To those Elysian orchards where mankind’s heart cries
Some call it absurd, I call Hope a holy word.
