In my dream, I hear the chimerical rumble of thunder.
In my dream, I catch the quixotic scent of rain.
My skin tingles in anticipation,
Bliss filters through my brain.
In my dream, it’s closer, almost here,
In my dream, I await the spray.
My eyes close as I look toward heaven
In supplication as I pray.
In my dream, I feel the droplets,
In my dream, they caress my face.
Cool, life-giving, refreshing water,
So long gone from this place.
In my dream, I give thanks,
In my dream, I humbly bow.
I rest; eyes closed as I receive it,
My dream must suffice for now.
Thank you, Patty, for this wonderful poem. We all look forward to more of your work.
