Lily
the day the sky opened,
the room that flooded with light
the world outside was dissolving
behind the curtain of fine, grey rain
there was a beach where the oyster lost
its grain of sand and gave its pearl to an eagle
and was carried from one ocean of blossoms to another
over lifetimes, over centuries, over fathers that way.
