Life’s Purpose and Why We Are Here

3

What is life’s purpose and why are we here?
Why are we here? Why are we here?
The point of life is life itself: living life to the full; being the best that we can be.

The point of life is loving life. The point of life is sharing – sharing one with the other and with every living creature – the existential, elemental, immediate and immaculate, the irreducible and transcendent perception and sensation of being utterly alive.

Self-aware: we see what we can be.
The point of life, humanity’s purpose – and humanity’s duty and our personal duty – all intersect.
They intersect. They intersect.

We are evolution’s creatures, yet evolution sets us free. We transcend instinctive appetite and rise above instinctive need. We shake off the chains of survival and unshackle the human soul. We are one with the beast and yet see the beast bow down his head…

The point of life is life itself. Our urgent duty is to be alive. Protecting and preserving life, we repay the gift of life. We are evolution’s wardens and the biosphere’s guardians: habitat protectors, preservers of our species. Nurturers and sustainers: supporting life’s diversifying growth.

We are evolution’s creatures whilst transcending evolution.
We transcend evolution. We transcend evolution.

Nothing can stop us – nothing other than ourselves – nothing can stop us from taking ownership of the possibilities of our place in this world.

The point of life is life itself and taking responsibility for what we can be. We shoulder the burden of our effect upon the biosphere. We take ownership of our consumption. We wrest from instinctive appetite our methods of production. We take ownership of our population. We take ownership of who and what we are. We choose to be better and we choose how to change. If we wish to, if we choose to, if we so determine it, we will change. If we wish to, if we choose to, if we so determine it, we will grow. If we wish to we can rise above the ashes of our mistakes and create the world anew. Evolution is ours. Evolution is ours for the taking.

The point of life is life itself: living life to the full; being the best that we can be.
The best that we can be. The best that we can be.
The point of life is loving life. Life gave us this: we owe life love.

We have certainly demonstrated we have the power to transform our environment… I feel we should aspire to undo some of those transformations and begin work on transforming ourselves…
