Do Come and Lie to Me If Needed

Come and Lie to Me - a-new-dawn

Please, come over one of these days
But do come before the beast is unleashed
We’ll have our last in-depth conversation
About the written word, about fine poetry, kindness and eternity,
About longing and belonging, about tears that will fall
Inevitably fall upon this kingdom of utter sadness
As they mercilessly poison our Mother
They rape Her with their machineries, with sharp tools and even sharper lies,
With heartless deeds and greedy, soulless souls
They’ll come to tear up, to destroy the remains of fine art and
The soulful passages laced with truth and the finest promises hidden in the old,
Old scriptures and forgotten fairy-tales

Black horse riders
Riders of the apocalypse
They are coming with their lawless laws and forced sameness of
What was meant to be a civilized difference of the intelligent creation
They are coming …

If you manage, do come before they force their laws onto us
We’ll talk the way we used to:
With a cup of mellow tasting tea and the endless time at our disposal to
Exchange our whispers
With care and kindness the way humans used to talk
With care and kindness the way our ancestors tried to teach us
With care and kindness as new-sweet rebels will talk
With care and kindness as a new way of saying ‘good-bye.’

Please, do come and lie to me if needed.

Branka, I have been reading your work and wanted to tell you how much I have appreciated your words – as always. You brings the reader to a place and time, a situation they too can become part of to listen or believe they are sitting there, taking part in the conversation. Thank you for sharing. Sincerely, Nancy
