Those Days

It was one of those days
those days, when shivers
ran up my arms
when the sky turned black
as trees bent
limbs split
one crack and another
one tree lifted up from the earth
its’ shadow crossed
broken glass

Inside – no light
it was one of those days
when the earth growled
and dogs barked

One of those days
leaves on trees flew
we felt the earth move
china and crystal – sang
hands touched
a tree snapped

One day we were silent
as we listened to the earth speak
it gobbled up what it needed
in a split second
one day, one afternoon

In the night
life flew by
too soon for night
to arrive
It was one of those days
when some never saw
the close of day.
