A Vision
A Vision
A talented young poet
Rolls out her words –
Wave after wave –
Over a cold Capitol Hill
Her tone as incisive as the
sharp winter air
Her delivery as flawless
As the sparkling blue sky
Leading a nation –
Broken by lies –
Back to the truth
Of the spoken word
Her cultured voice
a polished stone
that was once a rock
A gift from past generations
Hard-edged
Casting back the heat
Warming the hands
Of those that held it fast
She stands there
Unflinching under
The stare of the lawmakers
Delicate and strong in
A bright yellow coat
Determined to succeed
Already a phenomenal woman
