Luscious Chocolate and Chocolate Consumption
The chocolate industry is an $8 billion-a-year business. The United States is the world’s leader in the production and importation of chocolate candy. Most women in the United States prefer to get chocolate instead of flowers, especially women over the age of 50. In the U.S., females 30 to 39 years old and males 12 to 19 years old consume the highest percentage of chocolate per day.
Americans consume roughly 3 billion pounds of chocolate each year, which is more than 11 pounds per person. The Swiss eat, on average, about 22 pounds of chocolate products per person, per year. Per person, the Danes eat the most chocolate, at 30 pounds a year.
