Music Loving Oklahoma blogger Joey Zook writes to be best Christian fantasy author.
Paul Collins–Tell us about your background. Who you are, where you are from?
Joey Zook- My name is, for those who want to know, is Joe Zook. I am from Enid, Oklahoma. The best way to describe me in 3 words is: best Christian author. At least that’s what my ego tells me. -Chuckles- I am one who loves to write, read, and do anything creative. My background is a good one. Two parents, 3 siblings, and love. More than most get probably. I am a late bloomer.
Paul Collins–What themes does your book explore and what do you hope the readers will take away from the experience? Is there a particular feeling or experience that you hope to evoke for the reader?
Joey Zook – The best way to describe the themes in my book is to say that it is a book that explores the need and desire to survive while keeping their faith. I hope that my readers, love the way that sounds, will take away that even when you go through trials it’s possible to be joyful. Might be hard, but it is possible. I hope to elicit a feeling of awe that these teens, through the help of the Holy Spirit, can still be cheerful despite what they had to go through.
Paul Collins–What prompted you to be an author and did you have a specific inspiration in mind? Were you influenced by a certain person, artist, or genre?
Joey Zook – Ah, the answer to the ‘why?’ question. Well, the answer to this one is relatively easy and hard at the same time. It is simply because I experienced the creativity/imaginative fun that writing is in fiction. My only real inspiration is God. I am and have been always influenced by basic creativity. Not many know this, but I always listen to music when I create. This is because it helps me get into the creative mood. Though my favorite genre is fantasy. The genre of my first book is fantasy as well.
Paul Collins–If you could compare your book to any other existing works, which ones would it be and why?
Joey Zook- I wouldn’t compare it to anything. The reason? Because I don’t want to be arrogant. To be truthful it’s probably equal to the small, 120 page books you might have read in 6th grade.
Paul Collins–Tell us about your latest work and what inspired you.
Joey Zook- My latest work. It is called Rontens’ Justice. It is about a nobleman’s son whose dad and mom are killed by raiding Scandinavians. The rest of the book is how he gets justice while struggling with forgiving his parents murderer.
Paul Collins–How can your readers contact you? Or buy your books? Or where can they sign up for a newsletter.
