Signing Up
Just every now and then you come across a site on the internet that you would like to sign up to. But, despite your best efforts, the site in question acts like a spoilt child when you are filling in the fields necessary within that site.
This morning I was invited by a friend to sign up for a new site. So after checking it out, I decided that I did want to join – I wish I hadn’t.
After collecting all of the information the site required from various locations on my computer plus the sites it wished to know about I began to fill in those required fields.
First comes your name – easy enough, or so you would think, right? Not with this site’s sign-up system.
Next to your email address – OK, not a problem there.
Next password for the site – twice, once to confirm – hmm.
Next is a field for information on your book – ISBN Numbers etc – hmm
Next, your other sites where the readers of this site can find you like your blog, your various author pages, etc – hmm
There were other fields to fill in – I just can’t remember them exactly, although, after fifteen attempts at trying, I ought to, right!!!
Every time I finished filling in all of the field’s requirements I kept on getting a message telling me that only lower case was allowed! I checked each and every one of those darned fields, making sure I did as requested. But still, the darned site spat out my sign-up details with the same old argument about using only lower case!
In the end, I just gave up and left a message for the friend who had kindly invited me to join up on his Facebook page, telling him that despite my best efforts, unfortunately, I couldn’t.
Clearly, the web system for this particular site is severely overcomplicated
Maybe I’ll try later when my frustration level has cooled down from sheer exasperation to mildly annoyed…
