Author Okechukwu Iroegbu writes Oiroegbu Halls which explores the wonders of Mother Nature.

Paul Collins–Tell us about your background. Who you are, where you are from?

Okechukwu Iroegbu- ‘I’m from the hills’, that is usually what I tell people when asked where I am from. This is so because I live in a town, full of breath-taking hills, streams, caves and forests. My name is Oke Iroegbu and I’m from Isuikwuato Of Abia state in Nigeria.

Paul Collins–What themes does your book explore and what do you hope the readers will take away from the experience? Is there a particular feeling or experience that you hope to evoke for the reader?

Okechukwu Iroegbu- Oiroegbu Halls explores the wonders of Mother nature. Here, Africa is a scenic beauty yet to be discovered by the world. There have been ups and downs in the history of Africa but the real African spirit
still lives on. Let me say that there is something the rest of the world is not seeing in Africa that they need to see now.

Paul Collins–What prompted you to be an author and did you have a specific inspiration in mind? Were you influenced by a certain person, artist, or genre?

Okechukwu Iroegbu- My passion for writing had driven me ‘pen-crazy’. I would write pen poems when I was in high school and show it off and most people would say ‘oh yea, this stuff is real good’. Also I tell a lot of folk tales and this has also pushed my passion for writing. Drawing my inspirations from my environment, I have made stories and poems which are inter-woven with nature. I read a lot Chinua Achebe’s works. And I believe he inspires me.

Paul Collins–If you could compare your book to any other existing works, which ones would it be and why?

Okechukwu Iroegbu- Well, my book of poems are just nature-inspired. I can’t really compare it with someone else’s work.

Paul Collins–Tell us about your latest work and what inspired you.

Okechukwu Iroegbu- I’m making a novel- The Legend of Toudan. A narrative story of a young boy who got kidnapped by a sea pirate ship. The experiences hehad to live through their different voyages across the seas. They encounter sea monsters, savage tribes, the Navies and themselves! I have always had it in mind to sail the seas. So this has inspired me into making a sea-lore adventure. And here it comes.
