Interview: Andrea Godin
Andrea Godin
Paul Collins–Tell us about your background.
I am a pop/dance/r&b recording artist and songwriter from Ontario, Canada.
I currently have music airing across North America on stations such as Sirius XM, Galaxie, and many college stations, and I have performed at many venues including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and venues in Toronto, Nashville, and more. My music and music videos have been aired, licensed, and performed on national television as well.
What themes does your music explore and what do you hope the listener will take away from the experience?
I usually just go wherever my writing takes me. I love writing fun, party songs that get everyone in a good mood, but I also like writing about more serious topics, or themes that inspire and relate to the listener. I like having memorable melodies and lyrics so that it’s something that will stick with you and something that you can’t resist listening to!
Were you influenced by a certain person, artist, or genre?
Andrea Godin — I always really enjoyed singing, performing, and music, so it just kind of happened that I became a musician.
I never wanted to do anything else. I was strongly influenced by my music teachers because they always encouraged me and taught me so much. I also looked up to many artists such as Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Christina Aguilera and I always loved what they did. These days I get very inspired by the amazing talent that I have the opportunity to work with!
If you could compare your music to any other existing works, which ones would it be and why?
I can say that I draw ideas and inspiration from certain genres, artists, and sounds that are incorporated into those styles of music. I listen to a lot of dance music, but I love R&B, pop, and similar genres so I like to tie those together and put my own twist on them.
Tell us about your latest music and what inspired you.
My latest single “Hot Summer” is one of my favorite songs that I’ve written. I wanted to do a young, fun, upbeat song and this single was the result of that. I love summer and wanted to do a summer-themed song like this for so long so I’m really excited about it! The official music video is out.
Where can listeners obtain a copy of your music for them to enjoy? How can they contact you with any thoughts or questions?
All of my music is available on iTunes. Anyone can contact me through any of my social media sites; I always enjoy hearing from everyone! Stay connected with me on Facebook, Twitter, and my official website to stay updated with my latest music, show dates, and more!
