Season Contests FAQ

What is a Prize Pool?

In a Prize Pool, the cumulative amount of contributions is paid by all participants in the competition. Your chances to win a prize are higher. More Entries = More Prizes.

How do I pay for my story entry?

Entry fees of US$ 14.95 are paid with PayPal.

Can I pay with my credit card?
Yes, PayPal has the option of credit card payment, even if you do not have a PayPal account.

How do I submit my short story for the contest?

By clicking on the Submit Story Now button.

Please make sure that your submissions are carefully checked for spelling and grammar, and formatted in plain text.

How and when do I vote?

After the deadline, you will receive an email with a link and password for the voting page. In order to be eligible for a prize in the competition’s pool, we need your vote before the 15th of that month.

The voting starts after the deadline and is open to contestants for a period of two weeks (see COMPETITION RULES on the sign-up page). Contestants will receive an email after the Seasonal Contest’s deadline with a link to our voting page. On the voting page, the contestant will fill out the titles of his three (3) favorite stories (not his own), in order of preference.

Not voting, or voting for one’s own story, results in disqualification of the story entry without refund. The remaining entry fee stays in the Prize Pool for the benefit of the other contestants.

How do I register for the contest?

To enter the contest, a free sign-up at Angie’s Diary is required (click SIGN-UP at the top menu).

How and when will the Payout be made?

Payout of all prizes will be immediately following the voting of each particular season, exclusively through PayPal*.

Are comments on Short Story entries allowed?

No comments are allowed during the contest, as this could influence the voting process. After the votes are in, comments will be allowed.

Will you accept all entries?

Your entry must be original, in English, unpublished, unproduced, not released in any way, on any website, blog, journal, etc., and not accepted by any other publisher or producer, in part or in whole, at the time of submission. We reserve the right to reject material without recourse or explanation. (For example, poor style/editing, extreme content, etc.)

Are all genres accepted?

All genres are accepted, and your submission(s) will be public, but comments are excluded until after the payout of prizes.

Is there a maximum word count?

The maximum word count per story is 4000.

What if it’s a draw for any of the prizes?

In case of a draw (equal number of points) for any of the prizes in the pool, the story with the least amount of views wins.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

All cancellation requests must be made in writing to Angie’s Diary at contact@angiesdiary.com.
There will be no refunds for cancellations made after the competition entry deadline.
