We were given the embrace of Mother Nature to cushion our lives with grace and beauty...while we age.

elderly couple Old Age Honors UsOld age has honored us..with toil, sweat and tears, and dancing endorphins to experience love, when I look in my mind's mirror, I see us as lovers sitting for hours talking and laughing, and feeding on wild berries we picked ourselves, in a little clearing near some pines nearby, we laid out picnic basket and  blanket, we sat watching white beautiful geese playing in the water and applauding each other diving for brunch, the red bird sang to us way up on the branch of a nearby tree, squirrels hurriedly raced by too busy to give us a look, the winds coiled and recoiled, serenading us as we laid down in the wild flowers dividing lovingly into pastel yellow and green  bed sheets, we watched the clouds come floating by for a while, it occurred to us like a blooming cactus nearby, as we aged, we had triumphed over adversity by becoming a part of all that we loved.

  1. Andrew J. Sacks says:

Lovely, Joyce! Yes, aging can be "golden" indeed.

  2. Joyce, I was with you picking those berries, a delightful piece giving all the respect which is due to the older generations - for they worked hard, and never seemed to complain, unlike in todays world. Thank you for sharing, looking forward to more. Sincerely, Nancy
