List Of Loaths

List Of Loaths

We all have a list of annoying words and phrases that we’d just as soon cut from the language. Here is my list of words I’d like to expunge, starting with a hundred and ten percent. If I hear one more person say he is going to give a hundred and ten percent, I think [...]

Lesson Learned Or More Tutoring Needed?

Lesson Learned Or More Tutoring Needed?

Growing up in downtown Brooklyn, rough as it could have been never prepared me for winters of thirty degrees and snow, knee deep to a seven foot lumberjack. We had one winter that actually extended itself into the July 4th festivities. The previous winter, a friend would plow our driveway right after a major ‘fall.’ [...]

Brief Encounter

Brief Encounter

A shrill whistle pierced the silence in the valley, echoing into the hills. “Grell,” Tarik cried as he got to his feet. His normally golden skin was looking more tanned than usually, the result of several days traveling through the plains. Grell had been following his missing sister’s scent, and still there was no sign [...]

The Book Doctor

The Book Doctor

In my search for the people and the knowledge to help me further my writing skill, I have found now two editors who, though untried, are great people. Today I checked out Jason Black’s website – Plot to Punctuation (link below). I’d been following him for a while but in truth, I hadn’t gotten around [...]

My Genesis

My Genesis

The Holy Bible. To many, it is a sacred book that tells the story of man and his relationship with the one true God. It refers to us as servants to his divine majesty, and he as the creator of all things. I however, have always had a different perspective on the books and stories that make up the bible. Even as a young child, the book fascinated me; though I never really understood why. Then one day, the answer dawned to me. The reason why the bible had always been such an important factor in my life, was simply because it was a book about my life. Telling us the story of the soul and it’s origin, and guiding each and every one of us as individuals to our final destination… Our Revelation. I began testing my theory with Genesis, where our story literally begins. “In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth.”

The Door In The Wasteland

The Door In The Wasteland

We have crossed the threshold of fear And our true desires are finally near Across the great landscape of evermore There stands imagination’s door And we so wish to knock on it Look for the light to be lit In the shattered window, beside There where our soul’s shadow, hides Let us in, oh please [...]

Cookies, Cupcakes & Cousin It…Fantastic Is It Not!

Cookies, Cupcakes & Cousin It…Fantastic Is It Not!

I must admit when my son left home my heart broke. He was ready to tackle the world on his own and I just knew my job as a mother was not yet done, but I was wrong! He is doing well and I am incredibly proud of that boy of mine turned man, and [...]

That’s A Funny Place For Underwear!

That’s A Funny Place For Underwear!

My husband is the first born son but the third in a family of seven children. Every one of the seven siblings have distinct personalities and not a one of them is a follower. When it comes to neatness though, that attribute is manifested in degrees from unbending to laissez faire. I’m still not sure [...]

Who Tells You What To Read?

Who Tells You What To Read?

There’s been a lot of action in the blogosphere lately about Oprah’s choice of Jonathan Franzen’s “Freedom” for her virtual book club. I’m too smart or too cowardly to make an editorial comment on the choice, the chooser, or the much-ado-about-nothing (although that last one sounds a bit editorial). But the kerfuffle did make me [...]

Midnight Rambler

Midnight Rambler

The night began with the Rolling Stones: Midnight Rambler… I’m talking about the midnight rambler/An everybody got to go. . . The raucous, defiant anthem of my youth seemed to be just what was needed on this hot, raucous night.   Fingers drumming on the steering to the beat of the song, driving the 440 Dodge RT [...]
